In and around Gradenc you can enjoy peace, space and fresh air. But of course there is also plenty of opportunity to make fun day trips.
Below we list a few options.
The capital of Ljubljana lies 55 km from Gradenc, a 45-minute drive. Ljubljana is one of the smallest capitals of Europe and has a pleasant car-free center with many terraces along the river "Ljubljanica".
At this beautiful lake, which is an hour's drive away, a number of people have been very creative with wood and there are many different wooden sculptures to see. There is a restaurant with terrace, playground, and you can go hiking, cycling, swimming and fishing. Recommended!
If you are on holiday with children, Terme Čatež is a must. This is Slovenia's largest water park and is a 50 minutes drive away. You can easily enjoy a whole day here with your kids because there is plenty to do.
One of the many castles in Slovenia is Bogenšperk Castle, a 50-minute drive away, near Litija. The castle is especially popular as a wedding location, but it also houses a museum. The castle garden is freely accessible.
Kumrovec is located just over the border in Croatia at an hour and a half drive and is the birth village of Josip Broz, aka Tito. Here you can visit his birth house, which was built in 1860. The village has a total of 18 houses that have been preserved completely in traditional style and have been arranged as an ethnological open-air museum.
Although it is a 2-hour drive to Velika planina, it is absolutely worth it! At more than 1,600 meters high, these extensive alpine meadows with their typical wooden shepherd huts are a pleasure to walk around on. You can get there by cable car and can then continue on foot or with a chair lift. In the summer, the cows roam freely.
